Because of his parents’ duty, he spent his early age in the Virgin Islands, Guam, and Turkey. He attended Cardinal Newman High School in West Palm Beach, Florida. There, he commenced his amateur basketball career and later took it forward joining Wake Forest University.

John Collins was picked 19th overall by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2017 NBA Draft. Subsequently, on 1 July 2017, he penned a rookie-scaled contract with the team, which earns him $2,686,560 in the 2019/20 season. John appeared in all five preseason games for the Hawks where he recorded per-game averages of 7.6 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 0.6 assists in 19.2 minutes.

Later on 22 October 2017, in his third NBA game, he recorded his first career double with 14 points and 13 rebounds in a 116-104 loss to the Brooklyn Nets. After a praise-worthy beginning with the Hawks, he landed a career-high 35 points in a 121-101 win over the Chicago Bulls on 23 January 2019. Furthermore, John scored 20 points and recorded a career-high 25 rebounds in a 135-134 loss to the Indiana Pacers in the season finale.

However, on 5 November 2019, John tested positive for pralmorelin, a growth hormone-releasing peptide 2 (GHRP-2). He was suspended by the NBA for 25 games without pay for violating the league’s anti-drug policy.

There is less information regarding the personal life of the NBA star, John Collins. He seems to be completely focused on his professional basketball career and likes to stay away from dating and relationship affairs.
