Reba McEntire isn’t necessarily singing sad songs in the wake of her split from her husband of 26 years, Narvel Blackstock. In fact, McEntire’s former Reba costar Melissa Peterman says the country superstar is doing just fine. “I’ve talked to her and she’s doing great,” Baby Daddy‘s Peterman told Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday, Aug. 4.

McEntire, 60, and her manager and producer husband, 58, announced their split on Monday, Aug. 3, in a joint statement to Us Weekly. “Despite this being the end of their marriage, they continue to support each other. They have worked together for 35 years and will continue to do so,” the stars’ Big Machine Label Group statement said.

McEntire and Blackstock, who share race car driver son Shelby, had been separated for several months at the time of their announcement.

“I love her and I wish her all my love, and that’s all I can say right now,” Peterman, 44, said of her close pal. “I love her.”

Peterman — who costarred with McEntire on Reba from 2001 to 2007 and will reunite with her on ABC Family’s Baby Daddy finale — isn’t the only one rooting for her newly single friend. As Us previously reported, McEntire’s daughter-in-law, Kelly Clarkson — who’s married to the singer’s stepson Brandon Blackstockencouraged her husband’s parents to stay together amid marital strife.

“They’ve been living apart for two years,” an insider close to the couple explained. “Kelly urged them not to split and she’s the reason they didn’t split earlier. She was really fighting for them to make it work and stay together.”

Clarkson married Brandon — one of Narvel’s three children from a previous marriage — in 2013.
